One year after announcing their joint research and development work to grow strawberries indoors, Driscoll’s and Plenty Unlimited Inc. are expanding their relationship to build a new indoor vertical farm dedicated exclusively to strawberries. After exceeding the goals set forward for the initial stages of the partnership, the two companies are accelerating efforts to grow Driscoll’s proprietary berries using Plenty’s unique vertical growing platform.

As one of the largest importers of fresh produce, dried fruits and nuts from around the world, A.J. Trucco has been a staple at the Hunts Point Terminal Market since the Bronx market first opened its doors in 1965.

GrubMarket has completed the acquisition of Nogales, AZ-based SunFed, a successful and tech-driven fresh produce company that provides high-quality fruits, vegetables and dry goods that are produced by growers in over 30 locations, including 15 Mexican regions.

SunFed currently operates in Arizona and Texas, is one of the top importers of squash into the U.S., and has a strong reputation for being an industry leader in both technology adoption as well as food-safety practices.

Most grape supplies will be coming from Chile. Red grapes are best for price promoting right now and the quality has been good. More green grape volume has improved, but prices are still on the higher side. Supplies out of Chile should be good through April.
