The Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology selected Sami Robotics, a startup developing a multifunctional robotic platform capable of performing a variety of field tasks to receive the first WGCIT-sponsored residency slot at Reservoir Farms. The startup's initial focus will be on harvesting.

The residency will allow Sami to refine and test its technology alongside growers in real-world conditions at Reservoir’s Salinas location.

Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers' Greenhouse Goodness campaign has received two Platinum Hermes Creative Awards, the highest level of recognition in this international competition.

The awards were presented for the Greenhouse Goodness Strategic & Integrated Campaign – Branding Refresh and the Greenhouse Goodness Website Refresh – Creative Design.

Customers of Wegmans Food Markets raised a record-breaking $769,300 during the company’s two-week food drive to support local food banks’ increased summer needs. Known regionally as Fill the Bus or Fill the Backpack, the campaign ran from June 3 to June 17. Customers donated at checkout with 100 percent of the proceeds going to support each store’s local Feeding America food bank partner. Companywide, customers donated $43,000 more than in 2025.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Pharr International Bridge seized methamphetamine valued at $10.79 million in a single enforcement action. The seizure occurred on July 6 at the Pharr International Bridge when CBP officers referred a commercial tractor trailer hauling a shipment manifested as cabbage for a secondary inspection. 

Giant Eagle launched its On Sale This Season pricing initiative for the summer season. Effective through Labor Day, the company will reduce and hold prices across more than 300 of the most frequently purchased products throughout its supermarkets, including family meal essentials like proteins and produce along with a variety of summer snack favorites.
