MINNEAPOLIS — For the 32nd year, Friends of the Institute presented Art in Bloom at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, here, April 30-May 3 and it had a record-breaking attendance of over 41,000 visitors. More than 150 fresh floral arrangements by 160 pedestal artists/designers and 19 commercial florists interpreted diverse works of timeless art in the museum’s collection.

Meijer, a regional supermarket chain with corporate headquarters in Walker, MI, announced hat it is partnering with Marysville, Ohio-based Scotts-MiracleGro in a pilot program to open 27 garden centers in existing Meijer stores across the Midwest, including 11 in Michigan.

The Garden Marketplace, located inside Meijer’s seasonal department, will feature a variety of Scotts-MiracleGro and Meijer brand products.

The 17th Hortiflorexpo IPM Shanghai took place April 22-24 in China and more than 20,000 visitors attended, according to a news release.

Organized by the China Flower Association, the expo is known to be the largest official trade show in Chinese floriculture and horticulture.

There were over 600 exhibitors from 24 countries in 1,200 booths at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre, with two exhibition halls completely sold out. Official country pavilions by 136 foreign exhibitors included Holland, Germany, France, Ecuador, Korea and Taiwan, among others.
