Brighter Bites, a national nonprofit that delivers fresh fruits and vegetables directly into families’ hands, released its 2022 annual report. Since 2012, Brighter Bites has served more than 500,000 families, taught more than 150,000 nutrition education lessons and distributed more than 50 million pounds of fresh produce.

Salena Chairez, Samantha German and Tyler Custodio have been named the recipients of the Southeast Produce Council's  its newest scholarship program – SEPC Fresh Chefs. 

The California Walnut Board and California Walnut Commission reported that walnuts rank in the top 10 agricultural crops in California and are the fifth-highest exported crop.

“The California walnut industry supports over 80,000 jobs throughout the state,” said Robert Verloop, executive director and CEO of the California Walnut Board and California Walnut Commission. “Production has grown to match global demand for this nutritional, plant-based food, with over 1 billion pounds harvested in 2022.”

Meijer is seeking unique, elevated food products from across the globe to expand its Frederik's by Meijer line of premium and innovative food in its more than 260 supercenters and grocery stores across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

The retailer said prospective vendors interested in partnering with it should submit their interest here. By submitting information into the RangeMe system, vendors are making their products available for Meijer merchants to consider throughout the year.

Alpine Fresh and Procacci Bros. joined forces to host a charity golf tournament in Doral, FL, to benefit Metavivor, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the specific fight of women and men living with stage IV metastatic breast cancer.

AeroFarms expanded its availability through Amazon Fresh online and at all Amazon Fresh grocery store locations. The partnership builds on AeroFarms' successful national launch with Whole Foods Market in 2022.

AeroFarms grows food all year round, while using up to 95 percent less water and zero pesticides compared to traditional field farming.
