Printpack recently launched its Preserve line of breathable laminated film for fresh produce, which is pre-qualified by the How2Recycle organization. The film comprises all polyethylene and is approved for in-store drop-off recycling. The advantage of Preserve PE for fresh produce is that it offers customers a sustainable product that does not sacrifice manufacturing performance, product protection, shelf life or brand differentiation.

Wakefern Food Corp., one of the largest retailer-owned grocery cooperatives in the United States is adopting the latest in Reusable Plastic Containers  in its produce department to help improve quality, sustainability and lower costs for customers.   

Driscoll’s has installed 3,384 solar panels on its 155,000-square-foot cooling facility in Santa Maria, CA, which is estimated to generate 1.4 million kilowatt-hours of power annually.

In addition to solar power, Driscoll’s has installed a battery storage system that can hold up to 700 kilowatt-hours. Together, both systems will allow the company to offset about 92% of the facility’s energy usage, generating a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to removing more than 7,750 cars from the road over the course of 25 years.

Scientists are observing changes in the Earth’s climate in every region and across the whole climate system, according to the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report, released today. Many of the changes observed in the climate are unprecedented in thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of years, and some of the changes already set in motion — such as continued sea level rise — are irreversible over hundreds to thousands of years.

Endurant Energy and Bluehouse Greenhouse Inc. announced a strategic partnership to form Bluehouse Energy. Endurant, a full-service developer, owner and operator of innovative, reliable, and resilient clean energy infrastructure solutions, will invest up to $30 million in the development of an on-site 13.2 megawatt quad-generation (Quadgen – providing electricity, hot and chilled water, and CO2) Energy Center.
