The Hunts Point Produce market is on its way to being bigger and better than ever, thanks to an injection of $140 million courtesy of an economic recovery blueprint introduced by New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Local Bounti Corp., an indoor agriculture company, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire California-based complementary indoor farming company Hollandia Produce Group Inc., which operates under the name Pete's®, for total consideration of $122.5 million, subject to customary adjustments.  The transaction consideration will comprise $92.5 million in cash, expected to be provided pursuant to Local Bounti's existing lending facility with Cargill, and the remaining $30 million of consideration payab

Nature Fresh Farms expanded production of its newly launched strawberries. The response to its initial berry sampling was so great that the company extended its strawberry acreage from one to 16 in just one year. In high demand due to the surety of greenhouse supply, higher flavor profiles of berries and increased consumer demand for a more local supply, the company recently began picking plants and is now in full swing with production.

Atlas Produce & Distribution Inc. has been in the date deal for 20 years with the company growing and selling dates out of its Coachella, CA, facility under its Fresh Energy brand.

“The main variety we sell is the Medjool, but we also carry pitted Deglet Noors, and Zahidis, and we do offer value-added products such as date rolls and chopped dates,” said Luke Fountain, a sales representative for the organization.  “Every item we carry is offered both in organic and conventional.”

The Texas International Produce Association announced the inaugural Viva Fresh Winery Tour in nearby Grapevine during this year’s event on April 21. Sponsored by Sunfed and Lakeway, the tour will serve as an alternative to Viva’s already popular golf outing.
