Gourmet food company Omaha Steaks announced that it is entering into an exclusive partnership with The Chef's Garden, a family farm operation based in Huron, OH, to market a new line of fresh vegetables.

Roundy’s Inc. recently held a “Love Your Local Farmer” dinner and award ceremony, inviting Midwest farmers that supply Roundy’s stores with fresh, quality produce to be recognized. The event was held at the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee, WI, with farmers from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Michigan in attendance.

The National Watermelon Association kicked off its 101st annual convention with a welcome reception and dinner Feb. 17 at the La Quinta Resort in La Quinta, CA. Attendees enjoyed cocktails and watermelon-inspired cuisine as they listened to a live band and bid on some exciting silent auction items.

Giumarra Nogales will begin spring Nature’s Partner melon shipments at the end of March and will offer seedless watermelon grown in Mexico featuring Sesame Street "eat brighter!" artwork.

With premium greens booming in produce departments across America, last year Joe and Richard Baker decided to leverage 40 years of family experience in producing that crop year-round in Norman Park, GA, with the opening of a new state-of-the-art packaging facility and the introduction of their own value-added line.

“We’ll be at Booth No. 215 at the Southern Exposure expo, and we’re looking forward to it,” said Louis Hymel, director of purchasing and marketing for Spice World Inc., headquartered in Orlando, FL.

“I’ll be joined by Chris Whitson, vice president of sales; Mitch DiMarco, director of foodservice and other executive and staff members; Drew Caneza, Arden Laughter and Jon Buchwald,” he added.

Hymel noted that Spice World has been a member of the Southeast Produce Council for eight years, and the 2015 Southern Exposure event will be its eight consecutive year as an exhibitor.
