The highly anticipated 2024 Northwest cherry season has officially begun, marked by favorable weather conditions that have set the stage for a promising harvest. Growers in the region are reporting excellent crop quality, with the perfect balance of warm days and cool nights contributing to optimal size and flavor of the cherries.

By a wide margin, the 2024 California avocado crop is being picked and packed in much greater numbers than previously anticipated, which resulted in the California Avocado Commission significantly increasing its crop estimate in its annual mid-season report.

“Things are looking really good right now, with our first harvest going to be about June 10,” said Denny Doyle, chairman of the New Jersey Blueberry Industry Advisory Council. “Those in the Southern region, the Hamilton region, will start even sooner.”
