The Wisconsin potato industry’s Spudmobile was launched in 2014 to promote Wisconsin potatoes at regional venues, ranging from schools, hospitals and supermarkets to Green Bay Packers and University of Wisconsin football games.

Homegrown Organic Farms, a premier organic fresh produce marketer, announced Fred Berry as a new member of its team. Berry was hired recently and is now operating as a senior account manager for the Homegrown sales team. 

Berry comes from a diverse background in the agriculture industry.  He received his bachelor's degree in agriculture economics and business management from University of California-Davis and was a member of the California Agricultural Leadership Program-Class XX.

General Produce, a family-owned-and-operated produce distributor, has joined the nationwide "eat brighter!" movement, a joint program with Sesame Workshop and the Produce Marketing Association that focuses on increasing produce consumption in younger demographics.

As regional apple varieties begin to disappear from store shelves, the Lady Alice apple is set to arrive in February with peak flavor and texture. It will be available through May — or while supplies last — at many major and independent grocery retailers.

Teamsters Local 202 was set to go on strike at Hunts Point Terminal Market in the Bronx, NY, shortly after midnight Jan. 16, but workers are holding off until Sunday, Jan. 18 at 4 p.m., while a federal mediator gets involved with contract negotiations, according to an Associated Press report.
