International Fresh Produce Association announced the keynote speaker for the upcoming Global Produce & Floral Show in October.  World renowned chef, restaurateur and humanitarian José Andrés will take the stage at this year’s event.

Greenyard USA/Seald Sweet introduced a fresh new, sustainable label for its clementine line. “This new label features our brand and highlights our 110-plus years of citrus heritage with an eye-catching design,” said Gray Vinson, commodity manager.

Westfalia Fruit Group started its Colombian Hass avocado season and will have supply available now through late spring of 2023.

Walmart will start charging suppliers to transport goods to its warehouses and stores starting Aug. 1, according to The Wall Street Journal. The company hopes the fee will mitigate the effects of skyrocketing fuel and transportation costs.

According to a memo viewed by WSJ, "Companies that use Walmart to transport goods to the retailer’s warehouses and stores will be charged a fuel surcharge and a 'collect pickup charge' starting Aug. 1."

The potato and onion markets are currently erratic. Supplies are decreasing, creating some gapping. Unless your produce operation has a contract commitment with a supplier, it may be difficult to see full orders being totally filled on arrivals.

The Southeast Produce Council unveiled a powerful lineup of speakers for upcoming Southern Innovations, Sept. 22-24. Held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, TN, this year’s conference will continue to build upon SEPC’s “What’s New?” platform, which debuted during last year’s conference.
