U.S. Customs & Border Protection Office of Field Operations at Eagle Pass Port of Entry recently encountered pumpkins filled with $402,196 in liquid methamphetamine.

“Our frontline CBP officers have seen just about everything and this Tuesday was no exception as they encountered liquid methamphetamine hidden within pumpkins,” said acting Port Director Elizabeth Garduno, Eagle Pass Port of Entry. “They utilized their training, experience, interviewing skills and uncovered a rather novel narcotics smuggling method in the process.”

Kroger Co. and Albertsons Cos. are considering a merger of the companies, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

Cincinnati-based Kroger is one of the world's largest food retailers, with annual sales of $137.9 billion. For its part Boise, ID-based Albertsons saw $74 billion in sales over the last 12 months.

For three days, foodservice distributors and operators, retailers and social media influencers from across the county rolled up their sleeves and experienced Idaho during its busiest season — the Idaho potato harvest.

In about eight short weeks, approximately one-third of all potatoes grown in the United States are harvested, sorted and stored. This massive quantity of potatoes, about 13 billion pounds, will feed millions of people in America and around the world.
