CMI Orchards is primed to supercharge summer sales this Fourth of July. Rochelle Bohm, vice president of marketing, said patriotic holidays like the Fourth of July offer retailers special opportunities to honor veterans and support military families.

The highly anticipated 2024 Northwest cherry season has officially begun, marked by favorable weather conditions that have set the stage for a promising harvest. Growers in the region are reporting excellent crop quality, with the perfect balance of warm days and cool nights contributing to optimal size and flavor of the cherries.

Orchard View Cherries is gearing up for a fruitful season, with an outlook of consistent, large sizing and mature sugars. Exclusively marketed by Oppy, the team eagerly awaits its first pick on June 13.

After a challenging few years of weather events, the season is progressing well, experiencing moderate conditions for excellent quality. “It’s the most normal season we’ve experienced in a while, with cool mornings and temperate days,” said Brenda Thomas, president of Orchard View.

Hood River Cherry Co. was founded by orchardists Kathryn Klein and Brad Fowler in 1993. By the late 90s, going into the early 2000s, the first fruit started to ramp up, and the family-run operation has been thriving ever since.

“All of our cherries are out of the Hood River Valley, tucked in here by Mt. Hood, off the Columbia River, and we’re a high-elevation and a late-season cherry,” said Jared Gidley, CEO of the Hood River, OR-based company.

Superfresh Growers historically accounts for more than 15 percent of the Northwest Cherry volume.
