Earlier this month Oregon native Nicole Harrison, winner of Fresh Del Monte’s Bunch of Good sweepstakes, presented a check for $10,000 on behalf of Fresh Del Monte’s ‘Bunch of Good Society’ to Nate Crone, agriculture sourcing partnerships: produce, of Feeding America.

The availability of banana volume is good along with the quality; however, the costs are increasing within the supply chain due to market conditions, packing material and production costs, along with the current inflationary trend. The grocery store pricing level of bananas has been steadily on the low side with little gross profit for many years in highly competitive markets. That is about to change with justified retail increases at the supermarket.

For years, consumers have shopped the produce aisle enjoying the relatively low cost of bananas — but that may be about to change. In response to unprecedented market conditions and inflationary pressures being felt across all industries, leading banana provider Fresh Del Monte has raised prices on its bananas.
