Tomato and vegetable supplier Lipman Family Farms further expanded its international footprint by closing the deal on a 75-acre greenhouse facility in Jalisco, Mexico.

“The purchase is part of our approach to better secure the supply of tomato and fresh vegetable production and fill in appropriate gaps between seasonal transition periods,” said Darren Micelle, Lipman’s president of value-added services. “We look forward to seeing the impact this purchase will have in supporting both the East and West markets in North America.”

Peter Persoon, board member of the Beekenkamp Group and former director of Deliflor Chrysanten, unexpectedly passed away on Friday 22nd July at the age of 64. His death was due to complications following his diagnosis with bone marrow cancer four months ago. Despite his illness, Peter remained positive and worked tirelessly for the family business until the very end.

Lori Taylor of The Produce Moms and Tara Smith Vighetti of Smith Farms highlighted the need for immigration reform that is vital to the fresh produce industry and for consumers facing high food prices.
