The New Jersey Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Inspection and Grading performs thousands of inspections annually of imported and domestic produce at warehouses, cold storages and distribution centers to ensure that the produce is meeting USDA produce quality standards. What’s more, NJDA’s Fruit and Vegetable Inspection Program provides a consistent supply of high quality produce for distribution to consumers.

Karen Hearn, vice president of marketing at the California Table Grape Commission, passed away on Nov. 24 after a battle with cancer.

During the Idaho Potato Commission's October meeting, two new commissioners were sworn in: Brian Lundquist of Idahoan Foods LLC and Klaren Koompin, a grower in American Falls. Each will each serve three-year terms. Brian Jones of Sun Valley Potatoes was sworn in for his second term. 

Lettuce was brought to the Americas from Europe by Christopher Columbus in the 15th century and has come a long way since that time. Astronauts even tested lettuce in 2016 as part of growing food in space. Consumers love lettuce and purchase large amounts from retailers.

Continuing its investment in the greater Austin area, H-E-B continues with its plans to build new stores, renovate existing locations and support community initiatives, such as efforts to build affordable housing. 

The New Jersey Department of Agriculture attends many shows throughout the year for various reasons, but the New York Produce Show is one that stands out year after year. In fact, the NJDA has exhibited at the New York Produce Show every year it has existed.
