Doug Circle now a partner in Prime Produce
Earlier this month, Prime Produce International relocated its corporate offices to a Placentia, CA, facility previously occupied by Sunrise Growers, which moved its fresh operations to San Clemente.
But the two companies now have even closer ties with the Aug. 18 announcement that Doug Circle, founder and chairman of Sunrise Growers, Frozun Foods and Circle Farms Inc., has become an investor and partner in Prime Produce.
"I am delighted that Doug has joined our company," said Avi Crane, founder, president and CEO of Prime Produce International, an avocado marketing organization. "Prime Produce International's commitment to providing our customers with quality avocados at competitive prices year round has been the key to our success since we began in March 2004. Doug has an impressive track record of success in the agriculture business over a 25-year period. His expertise will be a valuable asset as we continue to expand our sourcing and distribution of avocados in the United States.
"I look forward to working with the team at Prime Produce and with Avi, said Mr. Circle. "My initial focus will be to help Prime Produce acquire avocado entities in and out of the United States that will increase sales volume and maximize the use of our facility.
Messrs. Crane and Circle are in the process of filling sales positions in the corporate headquarters in Southern California and in other locations around the nation.
Prime Produce's new corporate headquarters in Placentia has ample space for the company's expanding sales and logistics staff, as well as a superior cooling facility that has the capability to precool fruit arriving from the harbor and hydrocool fruit arriving from the groves. The location is the closest avocado-specific cooling facility to the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, and is proximate to three major highways, which facilitates the rapid offloading of fruit from the harbor and loading on customers' trucks.
Prime Produce will also be able to offer space to store avocados and other products for companies that are looking for a cold storage facility in the area.
Prime Produce handles avocados from California, Chile, the Dominican Republic and Mexico, marketing under the "Prime Produce label and exporters' labels. Its California avocados are packed and shipped from the CCH Avocado packinghouse in Riverside, CA, under the "Prime Produce label.
