Bushwick, Dublin Farms celebrate Virginia-grown potatoes with American birthday event
Bushwick Commission launched its annual Virginia Grown promotion, highlighting premium potatoes grown at Dublin Farms for Walmart. While the annual campaign reliably delivers special product packaging, a robust digital ad campaign and comprehensive social media support, this year’s celebration reaches historic heights.
In honor of America’s 250th birthday and in celebration of Dublin Farms’ 150th anniversary, this year's promotion introduces a landmark commemorative event bringing together local agriculture, higher education, retail and government leadership.
The event will feature an esteemed guest list of federal and state lawmakers, local district representatives and high-ranking officials from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and the local Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, top academic and research leadership from Virginia Tech — including university administration, the College of Agriculture and the Eastern Shore Ag Research & Extension Center — will be in attendance to celebrate the vital connection between agricultural innovation and local farming.
“We are thrilled to bring everyone together for this milestone celebration,” said Ken Gray of Bushwick Commission. “This annual promotion with Walmart has always been about highlighting the best of local agriculture, and tying it into America's 250th anniversary makes this year truly special.”
The exclusive event will feature a brief presentation with opening remarks from leadership at Bushwick Commission, Dublin Farms and government officials. Following the presentations, guests will participate in an educational farm tour and unique photo opportunities. To top off the celebration, acclaimed Chef Jeff Landry will serve special, custom-crafted culinary dishes that uniquely feature and highlight the exceptional quality of Dublin Farms' potatoes.
“Our family has been farming this land since 1876, and we are proud to showcase our harvest on this stage,” said Mark Hickman of Dublin Farms. “Partnering with Bushwick and Walmart allows us to keep local agriculture thriving while celebrating the rich history of our community.”
The promotion underscores Walmart's ongoing commitment to sourcing locally grown produce, strengthening regional supply chains and supporting the independent American farm families who feed the nation.
“Walmart is proud to work with local growers to bring high-quality produce to customers while supporting the families and communities behind each harvest,” said Eddie Bostic, regional vice president at Walmart. “We’re honored to join Bushwick Commission and Dublin Farms in celebrating Virginia-grown potatoes and this long farming legacy.”
Through this collaborative event, Bushwick Commission, Dublin Farms and Walmart continue their shared commitment to supporting local farming communities and honoring the rich history of American agriculture.
