Oboya Horticulture brings Bioglitter to the U.S. floral market
Oboya Horticulture has become the exclusive U.S. floral industry partner for Sigmund Lindner GmbH's Bioglitter, expanding its portfolio with a new generation of decorative glitter designed for florists, bouquet makers, growers and retailers across the United States. The launch reflects Oboya's broader focus on delivering practical solutions that help growers and floral professionals adapt to evolving market and regulatory demands.
“At Oboya, we want to bring products to market that are innovative, practical and relevant for where the floral industry is heading,” said Robert Wu, founder of Oboya Horticulture. “Bioglitter is a strong example of that. It gives floral professionals the sparkle they want, with a solution that fits how they already work.”
Bioglitter is made from natural, biodegradable materials and is primarily composed of pure plant-based cellulose. Compliant with the requirements of the EU Microplastics Regulation (EU 2023/2055), Bioglitter offers a sustainable alternative to conventional PET glitter and many so-called "eco" or "biodegradable" glitters. With more than 97% plant-based carbon and more than 99% natural and biodegradable content, enabled by SiLi's patented cellulose film technology, Bioglitter is designed to biodegrade quickly and safely in the environment, including under natural freshwater conditions.
Already developed for demanding applications and highly regulated industries including cosmetics, crafts, decoration, printing, art and floristry, Bioglitter now brings its proven sparkle to the U.S. floral industry, giving florists, bouquet makers, growers and retailers a verified alternative as the industry looks for decorative materials that meet new expectations around microplastics.
For the floral market, the message is clear: the sparkle stays, the conventional plastic glitter does not.
A better way to sparkle
Glitter has always helped floral products stand out, from holiday bouquets and seasonal programs to floral arrangements, gift concepts and retail displays. But as retailers, consumers and regulators pay closer attention to microplastics, the industry needs decorative materials that still feel festive, premium and eye-catching without relying on conventional plastic glitter.
Bioglitter offers that alternative. The patent-protected technology delivers high-performance shimmer while being synthetic microplastic particle-free.
It enables floral programs to achieve decorative differentiation without changing existing workflows.
Ready for floral programs
Available in a range of colors and finishes, as well as bulk and shaker pot packaging variants, Bioglitter can be used for bouquets, floral arrangements, plant decorations, event concepts and seasonal retail displays.
It can be used in existing bouquet, packaging and retail display programs, making it easy for customers to add certified biodegradable sparkle to seasonal and everyday floral concepts.
