Chelan Fresh, Gebbers Farms and Apple House Warehouse & Storage Inc. made a donation for families in rural Washington. The Church of Christ building located at 128 Independence Street in Pateros, WA, will soon be purchased and renovated for a new child care and learning center. During a ceremony, the companies presented the Pateros Treehouse Early Education Organization with a check in the exact amount of $110,000. The companies made the donation after learning about the area’s extreme daycare shortage and the organization’s effort to help families.

Ocean Mist Farms, a leading grower and marketer of fresh artichokes in the U.S., announced the launch of its annual spring promotion elevating the health and nutrition of its famous Gold Standard artichokes.

Starting April 26, Cal-Organic Farms, one of the nation’s largest producer of organic vegetables, will start shipping freshly harvested, new crop red and gold potatoes to customers from its facility in Lamont, CA. The company’s organic rainbow fingerling variety is set to ship mid-May and organic russets will follow in mid-June.

Hy-Vee Inc. announced that Jason Buhrow has been named the company’s chief data officer, where he will oversee the development and governance of data strategy for the more than $11 billion company. Buhrow’s areas of focus also will include innovation in the area of enterprise-wide data science, analysis and visualization.

Nature Fresh Farms’ very own Product Development Specialist Luci Faas has been recognized for her excellence in the produce industry.

The Canadian Produce Marketing Association has developed the Women in Produce initiative to recognize the achievements of outstanding women in the produce industry. Faas, along with nine other women, were nominated by industry peers for their contributions to promoting produce in the industry. The 10 honorees were recognized during CPMA’s Fresh Summit virtual event.
