With demand for locally sourced produce on the rise, Lipman Family Farms is advancing its commitment to family-operated farms through the Lipman Local program. Partnering with small- to medium-sized growers nationwide, the program has continued to evolve over the last decade by expanding acreage, increasing supply and testing innovation tools for data collection to ensure high-quality, local produce is available year-round.

Weis Markets announced the successful completion of its month-long round-up at the register program to support the iFoster Hope campaign. On behalf of Weis Markets, Ron Bonacci, vice president of advertising and marketing, presented a $250,000 check to iFoster, the national nonprofit that is operating the iFoster Hope campaign. These funds will provide children and youth in foster care in the seven states Weis serves with the resources and services they most need to reach their potential.

For the fourth consecutive year, Schnuck Markets Inc. will support the Folds of Honor Foundation through a “Round Up at the Register” campaign taking place at all 111 Schnucks stores throughout the Midwest. Folds of Honor is a nonprofit organization that honors the sacrifices of fallen and disabled military veterans by providing educational scholarships to their spouses and children. This year’s effort is also being supported by more than 55 vendor partners.

Vancouver, BC-based Oppy brought cherries to the market earlier than ever this year, according to Jon Bailey, who leads the company’s cherry category. “We began on May 2 thanks to bringing two top cherry brands together at the beginning of this year — Katicich Ranch and Brookside to form Katco Packing,” said Bailey. The partners invested in a brand new Unitec optical sorting line for Katco’s initial season in order to put accuracy and speed at the forefront.
