All-yellow flesh potatoes continue to rise above russets, reds and whites in the critical metric of retailer volume sales, an encouraging sign for grocers as growers ready for their upcoming fall harvests.

In the last 52 weeks ending June 13, retailer volume sales of all-yellow flesh potatoes are up 9.56 percent, far outpacing reds (up 0.82 percent), russets (down 3.91 percent) and whites (down 8.42 percent) according to the research firm IRI.

MyLand, a soil health company, announced today that Sascha Welz has joined the company as chief operating officer. Welz will oversee the engineering and system design, innovation, algae production, Ag Science, manufacturing, and remote operations teams. Based in Phoenix, he will work directly with Dane Hague, co-founder and president, to provide the platforms needed to bring the MyLand soil health solution to growers globally.

Apple orchards in the Northeast emerged from a long winter with no significant damage and a strong bloom, which has laid the foundation for an excellent crop across virtually all eastern varieties.

Albertsons Cos. announced that Sharon McCollam will join the company Sept. 7 as its president and chief financial officer reporting to Vivek Sankaran, Albertsons Cos. CEO. McCollam will succeed Bob Dimond, who will be retiring and will remain with the company as an advisor through February 2022 to ensure a seamless transition.
