Dollar General is looking to hire additional employees to serve its customers and communities with opportunities currently available in stores, distribution centers, the DG Private Fleet and its Store Support Center. These efforts come on the heels of the company’s successful hiring initiative in which more than 50,000 employees have been hired since mid-July.

Apples are the backbone of Superfresh Growers and have been a part of its five generations of growing since the late 1800s when the company first started farming apples and pears in Washington's Yakima Valley.

“Apples make up the biggest percentage of our overall profile spanning organic and conventional apples, pears, cherries, apricot, kiwi berries and blueberries,” said Catherine Gipe-Stewart, communications manager for the Yakima, WA-based company. “Superfresh Growers grows about 20 to 25 percent of our apples as organic, depending on the variety.”

Southern Valley Fruit and Vegetable Inc. announced a partnership with Make-A-Wish for the month of September. The company is donating a percentage of every package sold to Make-A-Wish, which includes bagged and tray-packed items with the Make-A-Wish logo at multiple retail partner locations.

Big Y, one of the largest independently owned supermarket chains in New England, has partnered with FutureProof Retail to roll out its new myExpress Checkout Scan & Go service. Big Y customers can now check out on their phone and skip the line at the cash register.

Customers simply scan their items with the myExpress Checkout app, bag their items and pay in the app to complete their purchase. They can also view Specials, and redeem myBigY targeted offers and digital coupons while they shop.
