Publix Super Markets Inc. has signed a lease for its first store in Kentucky. The Louisville store is 55,702 square feet adjacent to a Publix Liquors, the first located outside the state of Florida.

The grand opening date has yet to be determined and will depend on several factors, including permitting and completion of the store’s construction. However, the store is anticipated to open during the fourth quarter of 2023.

With a 2021 Washington apple crop expected to be very similar in size to the previous year, it appears there will be promotable volume throughout the year for retailers as well as the opportunity for good prices for growers.
