As a manager, the opportunity to delegate projects and tasks to your teammates might feel like a blessing or a curse.
It’s easy to see how delegation can go wrong in so many ways.
As a leadership coach, I’ve seen too many leaders, especially newer managers, employ a “dump and run” style of delegation where they simply want to get the work off of their plate. They dump it on a teammate without thinking it through or providing clarity about the end goal. This leaves people feeling confused, abused, undervalued and disengaged.
