Produce Marketing Association President Bryan Silbermann and PMA Vice President of Global Business Development Nancy Tucker presented vital information on global trends June 9 to industry leaders in Mexico and Peru.
As an invited panelist, Mr. Silbermann addressed retailers, producers in the food and agriculture industry, federal and state officials, legislators, investigators, students and consultants related to the industry at the Mexican National Agriculture Council's Global Agrifood Forum 2005 New Opportunities & Challenges in Agrifood Markets in Mexico City.
"PMA is pleased to provide value for our international industry leaders by bringing our expertise to the table as a part of this important forum," said Mr. Silbermann. Panelists shared information on implications for the produce industry resulting from emerging changes in food consumption habits and lifestyles, health concerns, increases in incomes, use of technology, and advances in processing and packaging.
The current situation and trends in the food industry in the United States were the focus of Ms. Tuckers presentation to a 150-member audience in Lima, Peru, at the June 9 International Seminar Perspectives of the Food Market in the United States 2006-2010, sponsored by Perus Export Promotion Commission, or PROMPEX. Ms. Tucker and Miguel Canala of the Chilean Exporters Association were keynote speakers. PMA is pleased to have partnered with PROMPEX to provide valuable research results and afford greater opportunity to Peruvian produce industry leaders for the sale and consumption of their products, Ms. Tucker said.
