SAN DIEGO — Avocado-producing nations from around the world were represented July 31-Aug. 1 at the World Avocado Organization’s second annual World Avocado Cup Regatta, co-sponsored by the Peruvian Avocado Commission and the California Avocado Commission.

MASHANTUCKET, CT — Bozzuto's Inc. drew strong attendance to its 2021 Merchandising Marketplace, held Aug. 3-4 at the Fox Tower at Foxwoods, here.

Fresh produce from a variety of companies around the country was well represented, as always.

"This is the most produce booths we've ever had," said Greg Veneziano, vice president of perishables at the wholesaler grocer. "You can feel the life in here. There are a lot of customers and old friends we haven't seen in a year or two."

On a beautiful South Texas summer day, the eighth (mostly) annual TIPA Golf Tournament kicked off with a full field, as 144 players took to the course on Friday, July 30, at the Palm View Golf Course in McAllen, TX. The tournament, which took a COVID-break in 2020, provided an opportunity for members to join together for camaraderie and friendly competition. The day’s wins went to the teams from Kingdom Fresh for first place Gross, and the team from Coast Tropical & Majestic Produce for the first place Net.

The Fresh Produce & Floral Council held its 29th annual Southern California Golf Tournament last week at Tustin Ranch Golf Club in Tustin, CA.  A sold-out field of 170 produce professionals not only enjoyed the competition held on a gorgeous Orange County day, but also savored meeting friends and business associates before and after the tournament.  

The team comprising Shonna Williams of Cardenas Markets and Bill Laliberte, Todd Butler and Rick Garboski of WJL Distributors took home first place honors.
