Maggie G hits the expo floor at Southern Exposure

HOLLYWOOD, FL — A record crowd packed the Diplomat Hotel & Resort here March 3-5 for the Southeast Produce Council Southern Exposure 2016 conference and trade show. The theme "Produce in Paradise" was right on target, but attendees took time out from palm trees and beaches for a flurry of business on the expo floor March 5.

From fruit that looks like alien space pods to gooseberries (there was even an encounter with alligator sausage) our Maggie Giuffrida tackled the task of finding out what's hot right now — and what's just around the corner — in this first of two reports from the trade show floor.

Still to come in the series: Day two of the trade show, the Tom Page Golf Classic and a look at the social side of Southern Exposure.
