Paul Dolan, Potato Bowl Parade Grand Marshal

Paul Dolan, who retired last December after managing the Associated Potato Growers for the past 25 years, was the Grand Marshal of this year’s Potato Bowl Parade in Grand Forks, ND.Paul-Dolan-Grand-Marshal

Ted Kreis, marketing director of the Northern Plains Potato Growers Association, said that Associated Potato Growers is the largest fresh shipping operation in the Red River Valley with plants in Grand Forks, Grafton and Drayton.

Kreis wrote in his association’s newsletter that, “Paul was a well-respected leader among the 15 fresh shippers in the Red River Valley. Paul was the co-recipient of Northern Plains Potato Growers Association’s Meritorious Service Award last February.”

Kreis said that the potato industry selects the parade’s grand marshal in alternate years and was the group that selected Dolan for the honor this fall. He rode in the lead car at the Kem Shrine Potato Bowl Parade.

Kreis newsletter noted: “Paul misses the potato business, something he was a part of nearly his entire life, and of course all those people he was involved with all those years. But Paul is also enjoying retirement, spending more time with family, his wife for the past 44 years, Barbara, their kids Jeff and Kerry and their families which include five grandchildren.”
