Baloian Packing changes name to Baloian Farms, unveils new logo

Fresno, CA-based Baloian Packing Inc. has formally changed its name to Baloian Farms in an effort to more clearly communicate the organization's long-standing heritage as a premier grower, packer and shipper of fresh produce. As part of the new identity, Baloian Farms is also unveiling a new corporate logo.

"After much consideration, I feel the new name more accurately reflects what it is we do collectively as an organization," said Baloian Farms President and Chief Executive Officer Tim Baloian. "We represent a group of premier growers, packers and shippers of fresh fruits and vegetables that provide superior products, service and innovation for our customers. We are fortunate to have aligned ourselves with grower partners outside our base of operations whose philosophies and goals mirror what Baloian Farms is trying to accomplish."

Since 1923, the Baloian name has been synonymous with commercial farming excellence. Baloian Farms' strict adherence to FDA- and USDA-supported food safety, sanitation and security measures have consistently earned it rankings of the highest level in independent third-party audits, the company said.

Peru remains important source for Pacific Produce

This year, the avocado market has seen record volumes from Mexico and a third straight year of California eclipsing the 300 million-pound mark, so there is no shortage of fruit for the U.S. market.

That has led to a slow start for Peru, according to Isabel Tavera, vice president of Pacific Produce, who told The Produce News on May 25 that just 194 containers of Peruvian avocados had shipped to date compared to 1,124 containers the same time last year.
