Stemilt promotion helps retailers Swing into Spring with apples

The official start of spring is right around the corner and Stemilt is ready to help produce departments welcome warmer weather with its newly launched Swing into Spring promotion for apples.

According to Brianna Shales, Stemilt communications manager, the Swing into Spring promotion was designed to help retailers promote the great quality of Stemilt apples available and bring a seasonal, springtime look to give apple displays a fresh look.Swing-into-Spring-POS

“March, April and May are important months for the apple category in produce departments across the U.S., contributing 6 percent of total department sales on average," Shales said in a press release. "Our Swing into Spring promotion features apples in a whimsical scene and will help retailers keep the momentum going on their apple sales in the final stretch before summer.”

Stemilt recommends using the Swing into Spring promotion for bulk ads on seasonal varieties like Pink Lady and its signature apple, Piñata. Retailers can also use the spring-themed promotion for in-and-out promotions or in-store specials around Stemilt’s three-pound Lil Snappers kid-sized apples in Piñata or Pink Lady varieties, or five-pound Fresh Blenders apples for juicing and blending in either sweet or tart flavors.

“Piñata and Pink Lady are great high-flavor varieties that consumers love anytime they are available, but the spring is an especially great time to promote these two apples with our best quality fruit being packed and shipped fresh out of storage. Lil Snappers and Fresh Blenders are ideal for boosting tonnage in the apple category by increasing the average purchase size while simultaneously promoting the intended use of the product to consumers,” said Shales.

The recommended timing of the Swing into Spring promotion is between March 15 and April 30. Stemilt is supporting the promotion by providing retailers with merchandising assets, including point-of-sale signage and social media content.
