That's why we formed the Women's Leadership Committee in June of 2012," EPC President Paul Kneeland said during the award presentation, held at Pier 94 on the West Side of Manhattan. "We believe it is an essential part of our strategic initiative to have women leaders to help shape the direction of our organization and the future of our industry."

The EPC Strategic Planning Committee "did not have to go far to find an enthusiastic, motivated and well-respected individual to fill the committee chair for the Women's Leadership Committee," continued Kneeland, who is vice president of produce, floral, seafood and meat at Parsippany, NJ-based Kings Food Markets. "An industry veteran with a wealth of experience with principles, vendors, buyers and wholesalers was tapped and got to work forming her committee."

Lowden humbly accepted the award and promptly declared that any accomplishments that the new Women's Leadership Committee has enjoyed so far should be attributed to the members of the committee.
