Southeast Produce Council helps Paul Anderson Youth Home grow the future with ‘Goodness Garden’

paul anderson youth home VIDALIA, GA – As the Southeast Produce Council grows and prospers, it is increasing its philanthropic outreach. One of its most recent projects is underwriting a garden at the Paul Anderson Youth Home in Vidalia, GA, which serves boys and teens in crisis. On April 13, four gardening beds were completed as a part of the partnership between the two organizations called the “Goodness Garden”. Crops planted include sweet corn, squash, zucchini, cantaloupe, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant and watermelon. The garden enhances the already successful program by promoting responsibility, agricultural awareness and healthy eating. It serves as an outdoor classroom and a living laboratory for subjects throughout the PAYH curriculum and enhances the education program component by teaching stewardship, gratitude, healthy lifestyles, social responsibility and concerns for others.
