Nash Produce names director of marketing

Tom Joyner, chief executive officer or Nash Produce, based in Nashville, NC, announced that Tami Long has been hired as director of marketing and business development. Long succeeds Laura Hearn, who left recently to pursue other interests in the produce industry after eight years with Nash Produce.T-Long-photo

“Tami will be responsible for all of our marketing needs as well as building and maintaining lasting relationships with our vendors,” Joyner told The Produce News. He said that Long will be attending trade shows, issuing news releases and communicating with clients.

Long brings 33 years of experience in marketing, “with a proven track record of success in the publishing area,” Joyner said. “We are confident that she will be an excellent match for this position and a strong asset to our team. Bringing a fresh eye to Nash Produce, she is already pursuing new ways to showcase our product line to consumers.” Long said her first big project at Nash will be rebranding of the company that had started under Hearn.

Long’s experience includes negotiating newsstand arrangements with more than two dozen supermarket chains, newsstand director for Emmis Communications, where she negotiated display space with retailers; regional sales manager in nine Southern states for Conde Nast Publications; and regional sales manager in four New England states for Penthouse International, including the launch in New York City of Longevity magazine.

Long majored in public relations, advertising and applied communications at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, where she earned her bachelor’s degree.
