Proflora 2017 exhibit space nearly sold out

The 14th edition of the biennial floral trade show Proflora is slated for Oct. 4-6 at the Corferias Convention Center in Bogota, Colombia, and this year’s 15 percent increased exhibit space is almost sold out, according to a news release.

PROFLORA-13-1On the floor of a previous Proflora trade show.Over 300 companies from 15 countries, including flower growers and breeders, general suppliers and service companies from Colombia, Ecuador, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, France, Japan and the United States will present their products and services under one roof during the three-day event. Proflora expects to welcome more than 5,500 visitors, including flower importers, wholesalers, retailers, distributors and mass-marketers from all over the world who will be able to gain an overview of the international flower industry, meet face-to-face with suppliers, and stay up-to-date on the newest flower varieties and trends.

There will be an Outstanding Varieties Competition divided into two categories — one for growers and another for breeders — and national and international cut flower experts will be members of the jury. At Proflora 2015, 437 varieties participated in the competition and the winner was Alstroemeria Konst Record by Flores La Serena.

International buyers at the show will have the chance to visit farms located in the Bogota Savannah on Oct. 3, where 70 percent of the country’s flower production is located. And the traditional Proflora closing party will be held at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 6. For more information, go to
