International floriculture Meet-Up slated in Miami

On Sept. 12, Miami will be the place to meet and talk about the latest developments in consumer marketing and new business models in the field of international floriculture, according to a news release.

Dümmen Orange, Ideavelop, Ter Laak Orchids and the Dutch Consulate in Miami, in collaboration with the Produce Marketing Association, invite you to join a unique Meet-Up, which coincides with the presence of two international trade missions visiting Miami — a group of Dutch flower growers and supply companies visiting Colombia and Florida (hosted by Dümmen Orange) and a group of international Phalaenopsis growers and supply companies visiting Florida and Guatemala (hosted by Ter Laak Orchids).

A total of six interactive workshops will include the following three themes:

• The future floricultural value chain.

Becky Roberts, director of floral at PMA, will present “PMA’s Glimpse Into the Future;” and Bas Pellenaars, commercial director Latin America at Dümmen Orange, will present “Strengthening Relationships for Supply Chain Success.”

• Turning internationalization and sustainability into profitable business.

Eduard ter Laak, director at Ter Laak Orchids, will present “Internationalization: the Road to Success?” and Henri Potze, director at Benefits of Nature, will present “Earning Money With Sustainability.”

• Consumer marketing and branding in floriculture.

Ralph Koopman, director at Decorum Plants, will present “Development of Consumer Marketing in the Netherlands;” and Marta Maria Garcia, owner and general manager at Designer Cut Flowers, will present “Consumer Trends.”

Participation costs $125 per person and includes access to all workshops, coffee breaks and a network lunch.
