San Miguel Produce Inc., makers of Cut ‘N Clean Greens, will celebrate National Kale Day Oct. 7 with its second annual Give ‘em Kale campaign.
Last year, San Miguel Produce hit the streets of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties, handing out 3,000 bunches of free kale to green up Southern California’s morning commute.
Kale is still the high-profile, media darling, superhero vegetable of building a healthier America.
After a successful first year, San Miguel has partnered with retailers and local schools to expand its ability to reach more people in KALEfornia. This year San Miguel Produce aims to give away over 12,000 bunches of free kale in Northern and Southern California while people are on their way to work, shopping at their local grocery store and at local school.
Garrett Nishimori, marketing manager and corporate chef for San Miguel Produce, said, “I think we really brightened up everyone’s morning commute and had a lot of fun interacting face to face and on social media. We are excited to build on last year’s events and are fortunate to have such great partners donate their time and effort to help us celebrate this grassroots movement for a healthier America.”
San Miguel Produce has partnered with Food 4 Less, fresh & easy and Safeway to give away kale at their stores. Each retailer will have five participating locations and provide staffing and logistical support to help make this day a success.
Members of the Ventura County Farm to School Collaboration will be giving away kale to students and parents at local schools.
Continuing their celebrations from last year, San Miguel Produce employees will be supporting retail and school locations as well as hitting the streets and handing out kale at eight locations across Ventura and Los Angeles counties to morning commuters.
